Two individuals have been charged in connection to a shooting incident in Torrance County. On June 15, deputies responded to multiple 911 callers who reported hearing gunfire in the area of U.S. Highway 60 in the Town of Mountainair.
Through investigation, detectives learned that a woman had sought assistance from a local resident shortly before numerous threatening phone calls and text messages were made by individuals attempting to locate her.
Through surveillance footage, witness statements, and community footage, detectives were able to identify a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident and develop a link to those responsible.
The following charges have been filed for both individuals: Shooting at or from a Motor Vehicle (No Injury), Conspiracy to Commit Shooting at or from a Motor Vehicle (No Injury), and Use of a Telephone to Terrify, Intimidate, Threaten, Harass, Annoy, or Offend.
