A Hamilton family is fighting to help their 4-year-old son, Eli Chamberlain, as he battles a rare form of brain cancer. Three months ago, Eli was diagnosed with grade four glioma, an aggressive and often terminal brain cancer.
Community Support
In late April, doctors at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital operated on Eli for 11 hours to remove a tumor the size of an orange from his brain. His parents, Amber and Cody Chamberlain, say he still has three tumors that are inoperable. Now, he’s undergoing radiation.
The Chamberlain family is urging parents to trust their instincts if they suspect their child is experiencing any symptoms that are concerning. They remind Eli every day of his strength, telling him he’s ‘brave like a lion.’ This phrase has inspired the community to come together and support Eli, with a fundraiser planned for August 22 at Pohlman Lanes in Hamilton.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up for anyone who wants to donate and support the family with work leave and medical costs. The community’s support has been overwhelming, with many people showing up to help the family in their time of need.
