New Businesses and Developments in Central and East McKinney

Central and East McKinney are experiencing a wave of new business openings and developments, contributing to the local economy and community vibrancy. From retail to dining, these new establishments offer a range of services and products to residents.

Retail and Services

Burlington, a New Jersey-based department store, has opened its doors at 2050 W. University Drive, offering a wide selection of clothing, accessories, and home goods at discounted prices. Meanwhile, Elite Outlet Store, located at 702 S. McDonald St., provides a variety of household items, appliances, and electronics.

Eyes on Painted Tree, an optometrist office at 2510 N. Hardin Blvd., offers comprehensive eye care services, including pediatric eye exams and myopia management. Mindful Pediatric, also on N. Hardin Blvd., provides dental and orthodontic services for children, teenagers, and adults.

Dining Options

Madras Mojo, located at 4060 W. University Drive, offers express Indian cuisine with customizable bowls featuring both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Mom’s Iron Wok, at 2741 Virginia Parkway, serves Sichuan cuisine and Chinese-American dishes, including rice and noodle dishes, dumplings, and soups.

Rolling Cigars, which began as a mobile humidor, now has a permanent location at 402 E. Louisiana St., offering cigars and related products. Cafe Brazil is set to open in early summer at 318 N. Central Expressway, providing 24-hour service with all-day breakfast items and a bottomless coffee bar.

Community and Infrastructure Developments

The McKinney Fire Department celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters campus on May 8, featuring a $53 million facility that includes a fire administration building, logistics center, and Fire Station No. 2.

Dynacraft has broken ground on a new 150,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 3490 Redbud Blvd., set to open in summer 2027. This facility will support the production of truck components for Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.

As part of a statewide initiative, the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 3400 Virginia Parkway is undergoing renovations to improve its layout and customer experience, with completion expected in late summer or early fall.

Lastly, Walls of Clay, a paint-your-own pottery studio at 211 N. Kentucky St., celebrated its 25th anniversary in April, marking a milestone in McKinney’s creative community.
