New Allen Mayor Chris Schulmeister to Be Sworn In on May 26

Allen, Texas, is set to welcome its new mayor, Chris Schulmeister, during the upcoming City Council meeting on May 26. Schulmeister won the mayoral race decisively, garnering 3,300 votes, which accounts for approximately 81% of the total votes cast, according to Collin County Elections documents. His opponent, Dave Shafer, received 770 votes, representing nearly 19% of the vote.

The City Council meeting will commence at 6 p.m. at Allen City Hall, located at 305 Century Parkway. During this session, Schulmeister will take the oath of office and receive his certificate of election, marking the beginning of his term as mayor.

Additional Council Activities

In addition to the mayoral swearing-in, Council member Tommy Baril will also take an oath of office for his reelection to the Place 2 position on the City Council. Baril ran unopposed and received 3,206 votes, as reported by Collin County Elections.

The meeting will also serve as an opportunity to recognize the outgoing Mayor Baine Brooks, who has served the city since 2023. A brief discussion of upcoming calendar items is also on the agenda.
