Marion County employees say a pattern of retaliation and surveillance keeps them quiet. The morning of Wednesday, April 22, a visibly shaken division director told employees of Marion County’s Health & Human Services Department that their bosses had suddenly resigned.
The director’s hands were shaking and his voice cracked, according to an employee in the room. “People were floored,” the employee said. “I’m not exaggerating. It felt like a death. It was so sudden, it was so quick, it was so unexpected … it was devastating.”
