Founded in 1985 as a family-owned practice in Humble, Wellspire Medical has evolved into a multi-specialty medical group serving the Greater Houston area. As patients’ needs have changed, the practice has expanded its services while preserving personal relationships that have defined it for four decades.
A Hometown Foundation
Wellspire’s roots trace back to 1985, when Dr. Navnit Mehta founded his practice. After completing medical training, his son, Dr. Tejas Mehta, returned to his hometown to take the reins. Today, he blends local pride with expertise and a passion for medicine and business.
As health care has grown complex, Dr. Mehta has expanded the organization’s leadership to guide the group’s expansion, always with a patient-first approach. “As the organization has grown, our responsibility has grown—we’re still serving the same communities, just in more ways,” Dr. Mehta said.
Collaborative Care Across Specialties
While primary care remains the foundation of Wellspire Medical, the practice has naturally expanded over the years by adding specialties patients frequently need. Today, Wellspire offers specialties including primary care, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, dermatology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, podiatry, general surgery, and urology.
Despite expanding with locations in Atascocita, Cypress, and beyond, Wellspire remains independent, with no private equity or hospital ownership influencing patient care. That autonomy allows providers to make decisions based solely on what they believe is best for patients.
Over the past year, Wellspire has modernized the patient experience by expanding online scheduling, launching a provider referral hotline, and doubling staffing at its central call center—efforts to reduce wait times and improve access to care.
