As students in the Albuquerque metro area gear up for the new school year, UFC fighter Jon Jones did his part to show support. On Friday, the popular MMA fighter teamed up with the CARE Project to distribute 350 backpacks filled with school supplies.
Helping Those in Need
For Jones, it was an opportunity to connect with some of his fans, while paying homage to his roots. “I grew up in a really rough situation. I didn’t always have the new things and the nicest things,” Jones said. “And I remember what it feels like to not have the things that I needed. And now that I’m in a position where I can help out and give back to others, I think it’s important to do that.” This is the seventh year that Jones and the CARE Project have held this event.
