A Louisville woman, Tyrah Adams, 35, died in February after being accidentally picked up by a garbage truck while Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management crews worked in an alley off Cedar Street.
Investigation and Decision
The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office reviewed the Louisville Metro Police Department’s investigation and determined there was ‘not a reasonable likelihood of conviction on any criminal charge.’ Josh Abner, spokesman for the County Attorney’s Office, stated that prosecutors must not file charges if they believe they cannot prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Adams’ family is pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit against the city, Louisville Metro Public Works, and workers involved in the incident, alleging that city employees failed to follow safety policies.
