TxDOT Schedules Meeting for FM 543 Improvements in McKinney

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is set to hold a public meeting to discuss proposed improvements to FM 543 in McKinney. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. on May 21 at the Myers Park and Event Center, located at 7117 CR 166. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual meeting will be available simultaneously, with materials posted online.

Proposed Road Improvements

According to a TxDOT media advisory, the proposed project involves reconstructing and widening FM 543 between CR 125 and Trinity Falls Parkway. Initially, the road will be expanded to two lanes in each direction, with plans to eventually increase to three lanes based on traffic volumes and available funding.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for community members to review project materials and submit comments. Feedback will be accepted until June 5, allowing residents to voice their opinions on the proposed changes.

Community Engagement

TxDOT’s initiative to involve the community in the planning process underscores the importance of local input in infrastructure projects. By hosting both in-person and virtual meetings, TxDOT aims to ensure that all residents have the chance to participate and contribute to the discussion.
