Theft Suspect Killed, Officers Injured in Nob Hill Chase

A theft suspect died and two San Francisco police officers were injured after a foot chase in the city’s Nob Hill neighborhood on Friday morning. The incident occurred when police responded to reports of a theft at a Trader Joe’s store and attempted to detain the suspect, who allegedly resisted arrest and ran into the street.

Two officers followed the suspect and all three were struck by a vehicle driving down busy California Street. One officer was pinned beneath the vehicle and had to be removed by firefighters. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperative, according to the police department.

A witness who works in the area reported that there have been more people stealing in the neighborhood and expressed concern about the potential for violent incidents. The police department has not yet released the identities of the officers or the person who died, and details of the investigation remain unclear.
