A welfare check in Walker County turned fatal Wednesday when a Carbon Hill police officer shot and killed a man who brandished a firearm, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Incident Details
The incident occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Posey Road in Nauvoo. Christopher Scott Randolph, 47, of Nauvoo, allegedly produced a firearm during the encounter, prompting an officer to open fire. Randolph was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured. Randolph’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
At the request of the Carbon Hill Police Department, special agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation have launched an officer-involved shooting investigation. Once complete, findings will be turned over to the Walker County District Attorney’s Office, according to Captain Jeremy J. Burkett of ALEA’s Administrative Bureau.
