Tammy Waters, a business executive with 24 years of experience at Domtar, a pulp and paper mill in Ashdown, Arkansas, has announced her candidacy for mayor of Texarkana, Ark.
Community Leadership
Waters has served in various civic leadership roles, including chair of the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, president of the Arkansas Forestry Association, and chair of the Southwest Workforce Development Board. She and her husband, Russell, have been active members of Trinity Baptist Church, where Waters serves as co-leader for women’s ministry.
Waters stated, ‘I am running for Mayor this November because I want to continue to move the community forward, address today’s opportunities, and build a stronger future for the city I am proud to call home.’ She plans to file as a candidate for the seat currently held by Mayor Allen Brown, whose second four-year term expires at the end of the year.
