A woman who was seriously burned in a fire Tuesday night at a condo in Exeter, New Hampshire, has died, officials said.
The fire at a home on Stonewall Way was reported to 911 by someone who heard a smoke alarm and smelled smoke just before 9 p.m., according to the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office and Exeter police and firefighters.
On arrival, first responders saw smoke coming from the building’s third floor and found a woman with serious burns. They pulled her out of the home and attempted life-saving measures, officials said, but she died Wednesday afternoon at a hospital in the Boston area.
The woman’s name was being withheld while an autopsy was being conducted in Massachusetts to determine how she died. Officials said investigators don’t believe the fire, which took about 20 minutes to knock down, is suspicious.
