Lubbock County is sharing important reminders about what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to fireworks within the county. As the nation celebrates its 250th birthday, residents are advised to check the city ordinances regarding fireworks, as it is actually illegal to light them within or near city limits.
Firework Safety Precautions
Wildfire danger conditions are expected to rise through the beginning of July, and residents are urged to take proper precautions to prevent unwanted flames. The Texas Department of Insurance has also released a fact sheet on firework safety.
Other rules for Lubbock fireworks include being at least 16 years of age to purchase fireworks without adult supervision and ensuring that children under 12 are never near fireworks as they are being lit. Residents are also encouraged to pick up any trash and debris left over from their firework celebrations.
