El Paso is seeking local artists and vendors to participate in two upcoming events: Chalk the Block and Día de los Muertos. Chalk the Block is a free annual art festival in Downtown El Paso, featuring a chalk art competition with a $2,000 “Best of Show” award. The festival will take place on October 3-4.
Application Details
Chalk artists can apply for Chalk the Block using the website. The application includes details on a mandatory orientation artists must attend to participate in the festival. Artists can compete in one of three categories based on their age. The deadline to apply as an artist is August 15 at 11:45 p.m.
Vendors can apply for Chalk the Block using a different application, which will close on July 31. For the Día de los Muertos festival on October 24, the city is calling for vendors selling culturally-relevant merchandise to apply. Food vendors can apply starting July 8.
