A Martin County law targeting ‘super speeders’ has led to 51 arrests since its enforcement as of July 29, 2025, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Florida’s new law went into effect on July 1, 2025.
Details of the Law
The super speeder law allows for arrests instead of traffic tickets for drivers traveling 50 mph over the speed limit or exceeding 100 mph. ‘You can go to jail, and you will go to jail for violating the super speeder laws here in this county. We take it very seriously. A vast majority of our serious crashes are as a result of speed violations or people traveling way too fast for the conditions of which they are in,’ Lt. David Rosko said.
The latest incident occurred a few days ago when deputies arrested a driver who was pace-clocked at 119 mph on I-95 in a 70-mph zone. Body camera footage captured the arrest, with a deputy saying, ‘You’re under arrest for super speeding,’ followed by the sound of handcuffs.
Authorities hope drivers will slow down to prevent accidents and injuries.
