An EF-1 tornado with winds over 100 mph touched down in Clark County, Indiana, on Sunday night, causing damage to trees and utility lines. Residents in the Wyckcliff Farms neighborhood, the area most affected, described the storm as ‘scary’ but not like a typical tornado.
Damage Assessment
Clark County Emergency Management Director Gavan Hebner confirmed that no injuries were reported and that the damage primarily involved trees and utility lines. ‘No significant structural damage, that it’s been reported or located so far. Mainly we’re looking at trees and utility lines that have been impacted,’ Hebner said.
Residents are also working to clear their properties. Amy Murphy, whose brother captured video footage of the damage shortly after the storm, showed the aftermath nearly 12 hours later. ‘Like, the pictures don’t do it justice from last night. Like seeing it in daytime in person is insane. Absolutely insane,’ Murphy said.
Despite the destruction, Murphy expressed gratitude that the damage wasn’t worse. ‘It’s so weird, like the way everything panned out,’ she said. ‘God definitely was watching over them.’
