Two wives, two mysterious deaths, one husband. Investigators are reexamining decades-old cases in Kentucky and Oregon, where Joyce Bridges and Astrid Bridges died under unclear circumstances. The common denominator: their husband, John Bridges.
Investigations Reopened
In 1972, Joyce Bridges and her family moved to a new Louisville neighborhood. However, on July 5, she was found dead, and her death was initially deemed an accident. Decades later, in 2015, the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) posted new details about Joyce’s cold case, stating that ‘new information’ led them to exhume her body. A new autopsy determined her death was a homicide.
Astrid Bridges died at her home in Oregon on July 2, 1993. While her case was also initially ruled an accident, it was always considered suspicious. This week, police in Oregon called John Bridges a suspect in Astrid’s death and served a warrant to his Missouri home.
