US Agrees to Pause Attacks on Iran

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the US has agreed to pause attacks on Iran, citing the ‘perimeters of a deal’ being agreed upon. This deal would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat.

Details of the Deal

According to Trump, the US was ‘locked and loaded and ready to go’ against Iran, but he agreed to cancel attacks ‘subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL.’ Israel, a US partner in the war with Iran, has also joined in this commitment.

The State Department has urged Americans across the Middle East to consider leaving the region or be prepared to depart on short notice, citing potential flight disruptions and security risks. The conflict with Iran has been escalating, with both nations trading ‘heavy’ strikes.

Reactions to the Announcement

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) expressed skepticism about the deal, stating that the president should not trust Iran’s word. Iran’s acting minister of defense, Iran Majid Ibn al-Reza, described US remarks as ‘psychological and cognitive warfare’ and vowed to increase readiness and strengthen deterrence.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Trump by phone, emphasizing the need for dialogue to de-escalate Middle East tensions. The State Department has issued fresh security guidance for Americans in the region, warning of potential travel disruptions and urging caution.
