Shreveport, La. – Amazon is expanding its footprint in Northwest Louisiana with a $6 billion commitment to develop a third data‑center campus at Resilient Technology Park on Greenwood Road. The new site brings the total regional investment to $18 billion and will add roughly 210 permanent, full‑time positions.
Job and tax benefits for the community
Justin Dixon, president and CEO of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership, said the infusion of capital will generate both direct employment and additional tax revenue for the area. “This is about jobs and investment,” Dixon said, noting that the region already hosts an Amazon fulfillment center, a last‑mile facility, and two existing data centers that together employ about 750 people.
Across all three campuses, Amazon expects to create up to 750 permanent jobs, each paying more than $90,000 annually. The construction phase is projected to support about 2,250 jobs, providing a short‑term boost to local contractors and workers.
Infrastructure commitments
Amazon’s supply‑solutions director, Keith Klein, emphasized that the company will fund the infrastructure needed for the campuses. Amazon plans to invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure and is working with SWEPCO to ensure the power grid can meet the additional demand without passing costs to ratepayers.
“We made a promise. Amazon pays its own way,” Klein said. The new campus will rely on outside‑air cooling for roughly 87 % of the year, using water only during the hottest days. Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux confirmed the city has sufficient water capacity, noting the municipal system can produce about 78 million gallons per day, well above historic peaks.
Local businesses and workforce development
More than half of the subcontractor and vendor contracts awarded so far have gone to local companies, reinforcing Amazon’s commitment to the regional economy. The company also announced partnerships with local schools and technical colleges to prepare residents for the skilled positions the data centers will require.
The first building on the Resilient Technology Park campus is slated for completion by mid‑next year, marking a significant milestone for Northwest Louisiana’s technology sector.
