Middle Springs Farm in Paris, Kentucky, is offering families another opportunity to partake in its cherished annual Poppy Festival after inclement weather disrupted Memorial Day weekend activities. The farm has extended the festival to this weekend, allowing visitors to enjoy a range of activities including live music, food trucks, and a craft fair.
Festival Activities and Symbolism
Guests at the festival can take a hay ride to the flower fields, where they can pick poppies or capture memorable photographs. The poppy holds a significant meaning, as farm owner Justin Menke explains, “The poppy is a symbol of remembrance for fallen soldiers, and so that’s the meaning of the Memorial Day Holiday, and so we’re able to time the poppies to be at full bloom for that weekend. It’s pretty special.”
The festival will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Middle Springs Farm, located at 163 Levy Road. This extension provides a wonderful opportunity for families to gather and appreciate both the beauty of the poppies and the deeper meaning they represent.
