Shreveport-Bossier Youth Gain Business Skills on Lemonade Day

In Shreveport-Bossier, young entrepreneurs took to their front lawns and sidewalks to participate in Lemonade Day, a program designed to teach children real-world business skills. This annual event, open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade, is presented by Louisiana Economic Development and offers a hands-on experience in budgeting, marketing, and customer service.

Empowering Young Entrepreneurs

Lemonade Day provides a unique opportunity for children to learn the fundamentals of running a business. Participants are encouraged to set up their own lemonade stands, where they can apply the skills they have learned in a practical setting. This initiative not only fosters entrepreneurial spirit but also instills confidence and independence in young minds.

A panel of local business experts will review the submissions from each participant, evaluating their business acumen and creativity. The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce will award a $500 prize to the standout entrepreneur, recognizing their hard work and innovative approach.

Community Support and Involvement

The event has garnered significant support from the local community, with parents and neighbors coming out to encourage the young business owners. This community involvement highlights the importance of supporting traditional family values and fostering a sense of community among residents.

By participating in Lemonade Day, children not only gain valuable business skills but also learn the importance of community engagement and support. This aligns with the values of individual liberty and the role of family in shaping strong neighborhoods.
