YWCA of Northwest Louisiana hosts sold‑out Women Who Care luncheon at Bally’s

SHREVEPORT, La. — The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana brought together women from across the region for its annual Women Who Care, Share luncheon on Thursday, a sold‑out event that highlighted community connection and charitable support.

Event details and purpose

The luncheon began at 11:30 a.m. in the ballroom of Bally’s Shreveport North Casino and Hotel. YWCA Executive Director Rashida Dawson said roughly 200 women are expected to attend, creating a vibrant space for networking, relationship‑building, and collaborative discussion.

Three keynote speakers shared personal stories and practical insights, underscoring the YWCA’s mission to empower women and strengthen ties throughout the community. “This event is about empowering women and women coming together and having a network,” Dawson explained.

Fundraising for vital programs

Proceeds from the luncheon support several YWCA initiatives, including mental‑health and trauma counseling, teen mentorship, and parenting services. These programs aim to address pressing needs for families and individuals facing emotional and social challenges.

Attendees were encouraged to contribute beyond ticket sales. Those unable to secure a seat can still support the YWCA’s work by making a donation through the organization’s online portal.

Community impact

By gathering women from diverse backgrounds, the event reinforces the YWCA’s role as a cornerstone of community support in Northwest Louisiana. The focus on mental‑health resources and family‑centered services aligns with broader local efforts to promote well‑being and resilience among residents.

“Each year we choose a new focus, but the goal remains the same: to empower women and strengthen connections throughout the community,” Dawson added, noting that the sold‑out status reflects strong local enthusiasm for the YWCA’s mission.

Looking ahead

The YWCA plans to continue expanding its outreach, with future events and programs designed to meet evolving community needs. The organization invites local businesses, faith groups, and families to partner in upcoming initiatives that further the cause of women’s empowerment and family stability.
