CASPER, WY — The newly‑opened Wyo Sports Ranch joined forces with the YMCA of Natrona County to launch the inaugural Battle for the Boot: 307 Corporate Games. The free, public event runs Thursday, Oct. 1 through Saturday, Oct. 3, and is designed to give local businesses a fun, team‑building outlet while showcasing the facilities at both venues.
Event format and activities
Teams of six to eight participants will compete in a rotating schedule of five selected events, choosing three to focus on. Options include basketball, kickball, wiffleball, cornhole, a batting cage, volleyball, golf, pickleball, a pool relay, trivia and additional challenges. The Ranch and the YMCA each host five events, allowing participants to mix and match based on preference.
Community partnership
“Obviously with the Ranch being a new organization in Casper, there was a lot of ideology about what our place may be,” said Trey Ransom, General Manager of the Wyo Sports Ranch. “Rather than worry about competition, we want to be a community partner to the organizations in Casper.” Ransom noted that the Ranch already collaborates with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming and the YMCA, and saw the games as a natural extension of that partnership.
Risa Sabus, Senior Director of Membership for the YMCA of Natrona County, added, “People will compete in three of the five events as a team, and with the individual challenges, somebody could participate in every single one of them, or they could participate in none of them. We’re leaving that up to the individual competitors.”
Schedule
- Thursday, Oct. 1: Opening ceremonies at the Wyo Sports Ranch.
- Friday, Oct. 2: Individual challenges held concurrently at both the Ranch and the YMCA.
- Saturday, Oct. 3: Team events and closing ceremonies back at the Ranch.
All events are free and open to the public, giving spectators a chance to cheer on local teams and enjoy a weekend of friendly competition.
Why it matters
Sabus emphasized the broader purpose: “Getting people out of work for a little bit will be great, and we’re really hoping that they’ll use it as a team‑building exercise for their business or organization; just building that camaraderie and having some fun and a little competition.” Ransom echoed that sentiment, noting, “Far too often, competition takes away from the camaraderie and the community. We’re hoping this event brings people together in the spirit of competition, rather than having that spirit divide us.”
