Wylie’s high school volleyball program received statewide recognition this week when the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) released its latest Class 6A poll, placing the Lady Pirates at No. 8. The ranking reflects a strong start to the season, highlighted by senior leadership and a series of impressive tournament performances.
Season highlights
Senior outside hitter/setter Jolene Bao has been a catalyst for the team’s success, guiding the Lady Pirates to a 9‑1 overall record. The squad opened the season with a five‑set victory over Waxahachie and followed that with a 3‑0 sweep of Class 6A’s No. 9 McKinney Boyd on Aug. 11.
At the recent Grapevine Volleyfest, Wylie went 7‑1, defeating defending District 5‑6A champion Hebron twice and earning two wins over Frisco Reedy. Senior Keelyn Green earned a spot on the all‑tournament team for her play at outside hitter and setter.
