Incidents Across the US
In Brooklyn, New York, a man in a black ski mask opened fire on a family barbecue, wounding at least eight people, including four children. A 21-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being shot in the chest.
In Florida, a 19-year-old was killed and six others were wounded by gunfire in downtown Pensacola. The shooting appeared targeted, and no one is in custody.
A shooting in Fort Wayne, Indiana, left one woman dead and eight adults with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. In Gary, Indiana, a 10-year-old boy was killed in one of two separate shootings early Sunday.
In Compton, California, a woman and a man were killed, and three others were injured at a large Fourth of July party. In Dayton, Ohio, four people were injured in a shooting in the Oregon District.
In Canton, Ohio, a 46-year-old woman was shot in the back while asleep in bed after a suspect fired weapons into the air to celebrate the holiday. The suspect, Darius J. Leishman, 24, was arrested and charged with felonious assault.
In St. Louis, Missouri, a 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting, and two other victims, both 16-year-old boys, were dropped off at a hospital with gunshot wounds.
In Chino, California, a fireworks explosion killed one person and critically injured two others. Derion Tradon James Jr., 28, was detained and booked on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
