A couple who have been married for 80 years still keep a weekly Friday breakfast date at a McDonald’s in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. John and Jerry Carroll, both centenarians, say the tradition has endured for decades.
A Long-Lasting Tradition
John Carroll, a 101-year-old World War II veteran, said the couple eats breakfast together every Friday morning with friends, and his order never changes. They usually eat the Egg McMuffin with sausage and have a slice of tomato added to their sandwiches.
Jerry Carroll recently celebrated her 100th birthday, and the couple marked their 80th anniversary on April 18. John reflected on their long marriage, saying they have stayed together by treating each other well and working hard.
The staff at the McDonald’s loves the Carrolls. Christina Crisp, the store’s general manager, said, “We just love them. They’ve been here for a long time.”
