A 44-year-old driver was hospitalized after his Mazda 3 struck a power pole and caught fire on NE Highway 99. On Friday, June 12, at about 6:24 a.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies, AMR personnel, and Clark County Fire District 6 firefighters responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a vehicle that struck a power pole in the 8200 block of Northeast Highway 99.
Details of the Incident
The vehicle, a maroon 2008 Mazda 3, was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived on scene. Witnesses helped the 44-year-old male driver from the vehicle before first responders arrived. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported by AMR to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. However, impairment is not believed to be a factor.
Northeast Highway 99 was fully closed between Northeast 78th Street and Northeast 84th Avenue while Clark Public Utilities repaired the damaged power pole and power lines.
