A new lawsuit has been filed in the wake of the deadly UPS plane crash in Louisville last year. The crash happened on November 4 when an MD-11 UPS plane took off from Worldport and headed for Honolulu. Early NTSB reports say the left wing of the plane caught fire during takeoff and the left engine detached. Fifteen people were killed as a result of the crash.
The latest lawsuit was filed on behalf of more than a dozen people and two auto repair businesses impacted by the crash. It claims the companies, including UPS, San Antonio Aerospace, Inc., Boeing, and Rohr, Inc., were negligent and are liable for the defective design. Two of the couples named in the lawsuit are also suing for loss of consortium on behalf of their spouses injured in the crash.
The individuals in the lawsuit are suing for punitive and compensatory damages, while the two companies are seeking remuneration for damages to their businesses. They are also seeking a jury trial.
