Trump Advocates Cognitive Tests for Presidential Candidates, Highlights Perfect Score

President Donald Trump, nearing his 80th birthday, has proposed that all future presidential and vice-presidential candidates undergo high-difficulty cognitive tests. This suggestion was made in a recent post on Truth Social, where he also highlighted his own perfect score on such an exam.

Trump’s Health and Cognitive Performance

Trump’s call for cognitive testing comes after the release of his latest medical examination results from Walter Reed Military Medical Center. According to a memorandum from Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, Trump’s physician, the President is in excellent health, with strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function. The memo also noted that Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a test designed to measure cognitive abilities.

Trump has been vocal about his cognitive test results, using them to contrast himself with his predecessor, Joe Biden, who was the oldest U.S. president in history at 82 when he left office. Trump emphasized that he has taken the cognitive test four times, achieving a perfect score each time, which he claims is a rare accomplishment.

Medical Examination Details

The detailed medical report also included various diagnostic studies and consultations with 22 specialty providers. Trump’s neurological exam showed normal mental status, cranial nerves, motor strength, sensation, reflexes, gait, and balance. His screenings for depression and anxiety were normal, though slight lower leg swelling and bruising on his hands were noted, attributed to frequent handshaking and aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention.

Trump’s lab results were largely within normal ranges, with total cholesterol at 143, LDL cholesterol at 53, HDL cholesterol at 70, and triglycerides at 104. His fasting glucose was 83.2, hemoglobin A1c was 5.3, and PSA was 1.0. The report also confirmed normal kidney, liver, thyroid, and cardiac-related markers. Trump’s current medications include rosuvastatin and ezetimibe for cholesterol control and aspirin for cardiac prevention.

Trump’s proposal for mandatory cognitive testing for presidential candidates is likely to spark discussions about the health and cognitive abilities of those seeking the nation’s highest offices, especially as he continues to emphasize his own robust health and cognitive performance.
