The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF1 tornado occurred early Thursday in Switzerland County, Indiana, and Carroll County, Kentucky. The tornado had estimated wind speeds of 100 miles per hour, knocking down trees and collapsing an outbuilding.
Tornado Damage
Damage from the tornado was first reported on Patton Hollow Road in Switzerland County and traveled for about 10 miles before ending in Carroll County. The storms brought very strong winds, heavy rain that led to flash flooding and electrical outages for thousands of people.
A faith-based nonprofit, Masters of Disasters, is helping with the cleanup efforts in the affected areas. The group has a team of 16 volunteers who are working to clear debris and provide support to those affected by the tornado.
