The Cincinnati Recreation Commission is making a difference for its young employees through its ‘Youth to Work’ program, which is helping more than 130 teenagers prepare for their futures.
Program Details
During the summer, participants work as pool lifeguards, in parks, or at the Museum Center. Over the next couple of days, the program will focus on teaching social-emotional learning, financial literacy, and career readiness.
A lot has been going on recently with a whole bunch of shootings and everything, so it’s just making me proud right now that some kids are not trying to steer towards that path and they’re steering more towards an educational and working path, said Cash’mir Carter.
The teenagers said they have learned about everything from communication skills to filing taxes. The program continues with a second day on Wednesday.
