The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has spent $82 million on recovery efforts for the July 4, 2025 floods in Kerr County. The largest chunk of the spending has been on housing, with 43% of the total going towards temporary and permanent housing for flood survivors.

Flood Survivor Stories

One of the recipients of the funding is flood survivor Wilbur Vance, who had his home rebuilt by Habitat for Humanity after it was decimated by the flood. Vance is one of 130 families that the Community Foundation has permanently re-housed since the flood.

The foundation has also provided temporary housing for 180 families, which are made up of approximately 400 people. The temporary housing is fully covered by the foundation, and the organization has pledged $50 million for housing, with $35 million already used.

New Neighborhood for Flood Survivors

A brand-new neighborhood in Kerrville, called The Mariposa Community, has been built for flood survivors. Ten new houses were built, and families are almost ready to move in. The neighborhood is a result of the recovery efforts, and it provides a sense of normalcy for the flood survivors.
