A Northern Kentucky teenager has turned her COVID-era hobby into a thriving business. Aubrie Sink, 18, started making homemade jams at the age of 12 and selling them at farmers’ markets and craft shows. She later invested in a freeze dryer, which she discovered on TikTok, and began making freeze-dried candy.
From Local Markets to Disney World
Sink’s freeze-dried candy quickly gained popularity, and she decided to shift her focus from making jams to freeze-dried candy. She moved into a commercial kitchen with a storefront in Florence, Kentucky, and now employs 14 people. Her products are sold at her storefront, the Cincinnati Zoo, Jungle Jim’s, Six Flags parks across the country, and now at Disney World.
Sink is also a full-time student at the University of Kentucky and has plans to expand her business to more Disney parks and the Disney Cruise Line. She also hopes to grow her ‘dirty soda’ kits, potentially opening a food truck and getting the kits into more stores.
