Stewart Havana Volunteer Fire Department Hosts Family Rodeo at Havana Junction

The Stewart Havana Volunteer Fire Department is inviting families to a weekend rodeo at Havana Junction, located six miles south of Moundville on Highway 69. The event, sponsored by Raymond James, will take place on Friday and Saturday, with gates opening at 6 p.m. each night.

Program highlights include a Mutton Bustin’ competition at 7:15 p.m. and the main rodeo show beginning at 8 p.m. Organizers promise a night of classic rodeo excitement, children’s activities and a variety of food vendors, making it a suitable outing for parents and kids alike.

Advanced tickets, which include free parking, can be purchased through the Stewart Havana Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page until noon on August 20. Attendees are encouraged to secure tickets early, as the event is expected to draw a sizable crowd from the surrounding communities.

This year’s roster of sponsors reflects strong local business support. Contributing companies include ABH Enterprises, Harrison Construction, Tuscaloosa Ford, Ed Moore Inc., West Alabama Mechanical, Apex Communications, T&T Construction, Cypress Supply, Wyatt Heating & Cooling, Kelly Electric, Crimson Insulation, Bank of Moundville and Heather at Cat Thompson Rental.

The rodeo is presented by DoubleCreek Rodeo, a member of the Southeastern Pro Rodeo Association. The partnership ensures a professional, well‑organized show that adheres to the standards of the regional rodeo circuit.

Why the Event Matters to the Community

Proceeds from the rodeo will directly benefit the Stewart Havana Volunteer Fire Department, supporting essential equipment, training and community outreach programs. Volunteer fire departments like Stewart Havana play a critical role in rural Alabama, providing emergency response services where municipal resources are limited.

Local leaders have praised the event as an opportunity to bring together families, support first responders and stimulate the local economy. The gathering also offers a chance for small businesses to showcase their products and services to a broader audience.
