Community leaders, law enforcement officials, and residents gathered at Riverview Park in Shreveport to launch the ‘Hoop Don’t Shoot – Because I Love My Neighborhood’ campaign, aimed at reducing violence and strengthening relationships across Caddo Parish neighborhoods.
Community Engagement
The City of Shreveport Fair Share Initiative hosted the kickoff event, bringing together city leaders, public safety agencies, community advocates, and youth supporters. The initiative is designed to encourage mentorship, neighborhood pride, positive youth engagement, and stronger connections between residents and law enforcement.
Organizers recognized sponsors and partners supporting the effort, including Red River Bank, Bossman’s Barber College, and the Shreveport Parks and Recreation Department. Officials say ‘Hoop Don’t Shoot’ will continue with activities aimed at creating safe spaces, building trust, and providing positive opportunities for young people across the city.
