Community members, business owners, and local leaders in Shreveport, Louisiana, will gather for a town hall meeting to discuss the future of the historic Mooretown neighborhood.

The event, hosted by To Our Destiny Community Development Corporation, aims to build on the legacy of one of Shreveport’s most historic African American communities while establishing a collaborative plan for local revitalization, safety, and economic growth.
Dr. Rasby G. Mason, II, founder and president of To Our Destiny Community Development Corporation, said, ‘Real change happens when residents have a seat at the table. Let’s Talk Mooretown is more than a meeting—it’s an opportunity for neighbors, leaders, organizations, and agencies to work together in building a stronger, safer, and more vibrant community.’
Representatives from Shreveport city departments, including Community Development Director Verni Howard, will attend the forum. Shreveport City Councilman James Green will also share district updates.
Discussion topics include neighborhood safety, blight reduction, housing initiatives, resource access, and utility optimization.
