Throughout the spring, recreationalists roaming the forests and mountains may have seen a new face. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has announced that David Gaul began duties as the Sheridan Regional game warden trainee in April.
According to the Game and Fish, Gaul is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. He moved to the Pinedale area 10 years ago and attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology in 2025.
Gaul and three other game wardens graduated from the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in April 2026. As a regional warden, Gaul will work with district game wardens throughout the Sheridan Region to enforce hunting, fishing and watercraft laws and regulations.
“I am looking forward to becoming involved in all aspects that the Sheridan region has to offer with wildlife management that both game wardens and biologists conduct on a daily basis,” said Gaul. “This area has a unique combination of wildlife, habitats, and conservation challenges that make it an exciting place to learn, contribute, and grow professionally.”
