Sheridan Memorial Hospital will soon open its new behavioral health center, The Path. The hospital held a public open house on June 24th to showcase the new facility, located on the west side of the main hospital building.
Optimizing Care for Mental Health Crises
According to Brittany Goodvin, the hospital’s Director of Behavioral Health, emergency rooms are not designed to accommodate mental health crises. The new center aims to provide a more suitable environment for patients to receive care. The Path will utilize the empath model of care, which focuses on putting patients in the right environment with the right specialty to work through their crisis.
