The City of Carmel has partnered with Change.org to launch a public engagement initiative called Civic Dialogues, aimed at gathering resident feedback on ways to support local businesses.
How it Works
Through the platform, residents can submit ideas and vote on suggestions from others until July 6. Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam expressed enthusiasm for the platform, stating it allows people to share ideas without being overshadowed by louder voices at traditional public meetings.
According to Mayor Finkam, the platform provides a simple format for people to weigh in on ideas without debate or commentary. After the submission period ends, Change.org will review the responses and identify the ideas that receive the most support.
A group of residents will then be invited to participate in discussions to further develop those proposals. The recommendations will be presented to city leaders for consideration, with Mayor Finkam planning to review the proposals and evaluate whether the city can support or implement them.
