Russell Nelson Runs for Teton County Coroner

Russell Nelson, a longtime deputy coroner, is running for Teton County Coroner. He has a doctorate in anthropology and forensic science and has served in the coroner’s office for roughly 10 years.

Background and Experience

Nelson emphasized his deep roots in Teton County, with his great grandfather being Wyoming’s first state game warden, his grandfather a county commissioner, and his father a civil engineer who helped design much of Jackson’s infrastructure.

When asked about his plans if elected, Nelson mentioned the limited space the county currently has for handling bodies after death. He praised current County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue for improving conditions but noted that more work is needed.

Nelson is running against other candidates, including Krista Nethercott, Katrina Clauson, and David Hodges.
