President Donald Trump is set to visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday for a routine medical and dental check-up. This marks the third time in just over a year that the president has visited the facility for health evaluations. Last year, he made two visits in April and October, and he has also seen his dentist twice this year in West Palm Beach.
Health and Public Perception
At 79, President Trump is the oldest individual to assume the presidency. Despite his age, he consistently assures the public of his robust health, making his vitality a key part of his re-election campaign. However, moments of apparent drowsiness and a bruised hand, attributed to frequent handshakes and aspirin use as a blood thinner, have fueled speculation about his health.
In a January interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump explained his use of aspirin, stating, “aspirin is good for thinning out” his blood, and he prefers it to prevent “thick blood pouring through [his] heart.” Last year, he was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after experiencing mild leg swelling.
Medical Evaluations and Transparency
During his October 2025 visit to Walter Reed, the White House initially described the trip as a scheduled follow-up. However, it was later revealed that Trump underwent a CT scan of his heart and abdomen. Dr. Sean Barbabella, the president’s physician, stated that the advanced imaging was perfectly normal, showing no abnormalities.
Following the April 2025 visit, Dr. Barbabella reported that President Trump “remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.” He emphasized the president’s active schedule, which includes multiple meetings, public appearances, and frequent participation in golf events.
As President Trump prepares for his upcoming check-up, the White House continues to assert his good health, aiming to dispel any lingering doubts among the public.
