The Perot Theatre in downtown Texarkana, Texas, is set to undergo a major renovation. The historic 1924 theatre will receive a significant upgrade to its audio and visual systems, including new digital audio capabilities and a relocated sound-mixing position.
Renovation Details
The project, which is expected to cost around $3 million, will also include the installation of additional wheelchair seating areas and modern LED lighting. According to Andrew Clark, the general manager of the Perot Theatre, the current audio-visual technology does not meet modern touring requirements, and the upgrades will bring the venue into the 21st century without compromising its historic charm.
Construction is expected to begin next month, and the theatre will be closed during the summer. The renovation is being funded by voter-approved bonds and the Texas Commission on the Arts. For a schedule of events planned at the Perot Theatre after the renovations, visit perottheatre.org.
