Packers tight end Tucker Kraft eyes full‑contact return after ACL surgery

Green Bay, Wis. – Tight end Tucker Kraft took part in an 11‑on‑11 drill during the Packers’ joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday, marking a significant step toward a full‑contact return after the torn ACL he suffered last season.

Kraft, 25, said he welcomed the chance to take snaps and “didn’t mind taking some shots” in the practice. He added that the physical nature of the joint session is the best way to put any lingering fears of re‑injuring his knee behind him.

Contract talks loom

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Kraft is a focal point for the organization as general manager Brian Gutekunst looks to secure an extension before the regular season begins. The team hopes to lock in the promising tight end early, giving both player and franchise stability heading into the 2026 campaign.

Other roster questions

While Kraft’s health appears to be improving, the Packers still face uncertainty at running back. Veteran Josh Jacobs remains under investigation following his recent arrest on domestic‑abuse charges, and no official statement has emerged from the district attorney’s office. The NFL front office could also consider disciplinary action, which would be a major blow to the offense.

Yardbarker.com notes that losing Jacobs would significantly impact the team’s rushing attack, and roster‑cut day is fast approaching. Gutekunst may need to make decisive moves before the season opener in 17 days.

Quarterback outlook

Quarterback Jordan Love praised the joint practice, saying the Packers “got in good work” and highlighted his focus on improving balance in the pocket. Love noted the pressure from the Cardinals’ defense and expressed confidence in the offensive line’s ability to protect him.

Coaching decisions ahead

Head coach Matt LaFleur emphasized that the upcoming cut‑down to a 53‑man roster will bring “tough decisions” and “obvious decisions.” He explained that extra repetitions are being given to players on the bubble, underscoring the competitive environment as the team finalizes its roster.

The Packers will host the Arizona Cardinals Friday night at Lambeau Field, providing fans a chance to see how the team’s key pieces perform together after a demanding offseason.
