Ozarks Technical Community College has installed a new clock tower near the Michael L. Parson Student Union. The Judy and Mike Breeding Clock Tower was assembled as one piece and hoisted into place on July 30 using two cranes.
Grand Opening Ceremony
A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Parson Student Union will be held on August 12 at 1 p.m. Former Gov. Michael Parson will attend the ceremony. The event will include tours of the new building, which features a food court, library, writing center, fitness center, and bookstore.
The clock tower is part of the David and Stacey O’Reilly — O’Reilly Auto Parts Plaza, a gathering space with seating and green space. The tower was designed by Dake Wells Architecture and made at Trinity Companies USA in Rogersville, using about 20 tons of stainless steel. Several Ozarks Tech alumni were involved in its creation.
The development of a new strategic plan has begun at the college, with a preliminary phase seeking feedback from the public on the college’s direction and how to best support and strengthen the region. Open houses are set for the Republic Education Center, Springfield campus, and Richwood Valley campus, with feedback also accepted online.
