Arizona Wildcats offensive coordinator Seth Doege is looking to name a backup quarterback soon, with Sawyer Anderson and Luke Haugo as the co-frontrunners for the job.

Offense Looks to Build on Last Season

The Wildcats averaged 31.5 points per game in 2025, up almost 10 points from the year before, and ranked 6th in the Big 12 in total offense. With Noah Fifita back for a third consecutive season as starting quarterback, Doege is moving quickly to establish a pecking order.

Doege said he has “amplified the install” rather than ease into camp, and is excited about the group’s progress. He also mentioned that Oscar Rios, a 4-star signee from the most recent class, is still in the mix despite being unable to participate in spring ball due to surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.

The quarterback position isn’t the only one where Doege wants to get a pecking order established soon. The team is also looking to establish a deep wide receiver corps, with Chris Hunter, Giovanni Richardson, and Tre Spivey in line to be the three starting wide receivers.
