The new CW show, “The Great American Road Rally”, will film in Springfield on August 7 during the annual Birthplace of Route 66 Festival. The show, hosted by actor Ian Ziering, will showcase Springfield as part of a cross-country journey along historic Route 66 during its centennial celebration.
The Show’s Concept
The Great American Road Rally will take audiences on an adventure along America’s most iconic highway, as celebrity participants tackle unique challenges, share personal stories, and spotlight charitable organizations making an impact across the country.
Andrea Copeland, vice president of marketing for Visit Springfield, said, “Springfield continues to attract storytellers who want to share our community with audiences across the country. Every opportunity to showcase Springfield on a national stage helps introduce new visitors to our destination. We hope viewers are inspired to experience Springfield’s Route 66 story and discover the places and people that make our community a must-visit destination along the Mother Road.”
The stop in Springfield is timed to coincide with the city’s annual celebration of Route 66 and its role in the highway’s history. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to meet celebrities from “The Great American Road Rally” during a special meet-and-greet on August 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., in the parking lot across from Hotel Vandivort downtown, next to Shot Shack.
