Ocean City Boardwalk Hosts Eagles Parade to Mark End of Summer

Ocean City, New Jersey – As the last weekend of summer draws to a close, the town’s iconic boardwalk became the stage for a hometown celebration of the Philadelphia Eagles. The parade, organized by city officials and the Eagles’ community outreach team, gave locals a chance to mingle, enjoy live music, and get a preview of the excitement that awaits at the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia this fall.

Community spirit on display

“It’s a great chance for everyone to meet new people and see new faces,” said Eagles cheerleader Dalton Walsh, who led the marching squad along the boardwalk. “We get to showcase the cheerleaders, build excitement for the home opener, and share the love of the city of brotherly love with our fans.”

Mayor’s aide Michael Allegretto, a lifelong Ocean City resident, echoed the sentiment, noting how the event reflects the town’s commitment to family‑friendly programming. “I grew up here, so I love everything we stand for. We organize events that bring people together, and seeing families enjoy what we put together gives us a deep sense of satisfaction as city employees,” he said.

Parade highlights

The procession featured a mix of local bands, marching groups, and a fleet of classic cars painted in Eagles colors. Children waved homemade signs while vendors offered ice‑cream and memorabilia. The cheerleaders performed a short routine that drew cheers from the crowd, and a large inflatable Eagles mascot made its way down the boardwalk, posing for photos with fans.

City officials used the occasion to remind residents of upcoming fall activities, including the annual “Eagles Fan Fest” at the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia, scheduled for early September. The event promises live music, food trucks, and a chance to meet former Eagles players.

Looking ahead

While the parade marked the end of the beach‑season bustle, it also signaled a shift toward autumn festivities that keep Ocean City vibrant year‑round. The town’s tourism board highlighted plans for a series of family‑oriented events, from harvest fairs to holiday markets, aimed at sustaining the local economy beyond the summer months.

“Our goal is to create lifelong memories that families talk about for generations,” Allegretto added. “Events like this parade help us give back to the community and keep the spirit of Ocean City alive all year.”
