During a City Hall press briefing, reporters asked about the station’s redevelopment plans and the suggested renaming proposal. Mamdani shifted the focus away from the naming debate, emphasizing that the city’s attention must stay on service delivery and commuter experience.
“I am more interested in what the station would be able to deliver to New Yorkers than what we call that station,” Mamdani said. He noted that infrastructure upgrades are necessary for the city to maintain its global reputation.
