New Mexico is experiencing a mix of sunny skies and storm chances, with the eastern half of the state seeing scattered storms that could reach severe levels. The central part of the state, including Albuquerque and Santa Fe, may see isolated storms or virga, while Western New Mexico will be dry with plenty of sunshine.
Red Flag Warnings
Red Flag Warnings for extreme fire danger are in effect again today across Southern Colorado, and drier air moving in from the west will shut down storm chances for the central and northeast tomorrow. However, Southeast New Mexico could still see scattered afternoon thunderstorms.
As the drying trend continues over the next few days, temperatures are expected to rise, but will not challenge records or reach widespread triple digits. By Sunday, storm coverage is expected to increase over the eastern half of the state, with a strong push of east winds and gusts above 40 mph possible for the Albuquerque metro.
